My dear friend and veteran brother Dan Kostrzebski has served our great country in many ways for many years.
One of his most popular stories happened in February, 1991 as the first Gulf War began. Dan was a US Army Special Forces Green Beret serving on ODA 525 – Operational Detachment A-Team. This A-Team was dropped into Iraq from Saudi Arabia under the cover of dark and were soon discovered by children. They all made it out safely thanks to some help from the US Air Force!
Books have been written about this event. The Military Channel featured an episode where Dan and his teammates were interview. I found it on Amazon Prime – search for Military Channel series Combat Zone Season 1 Episode 2 “A Tight Spot”
More recently the Hazard Ground Podcast interviewed Dan about that mission on Hazard Ground Episode 321. Another Hazard Ground episode interviewed the Commander of the mission giving more background from the leader’s perspective.
